Mirza Book Agency was founded by my grandfather in 1949. My father, Mushtaq Ahmad Mirza, joined the company when he was still in high school and worked there for decades. He was in the book selling business for 50 years. I inherited the life long love of books from my father. In remembrance of my father and grandfather, and especially to honor the memory of my father I started this new incarnation of Mirza Book Agency.

Unlike its predecessor which was housed in a traditional brick and mortar building, this incarnation is an avant grade book publisher that blurs the line between the real and the virtual, the concrete and the imaginative. Thus Mirza Book Agency will not only have books which are published exclusively online but also books which are published in the traditional ink and paper format as well. However one novel element that will be added to this mix is that we will have book summaries and book reviews of non-existent books by authors from parallel universes e.g., what books would Shakespeare had written under the Spanish rule, what would have been the literary output of Arthur C. Clarke would have been if he had relocated to Lahore instead of Colombo, imagine Issac Asimov as a Soviet writer or James Joyce writing Science Fiction. The possibilities are endless and so is our inventory. You can think of us as a enchanted realization of a section of Jorge Luis Borges’ library. To conclude this Mirza Book Agency is a literary experiment that straddles the boundary between the real and the virtual as well as between the real and the unreal.
